This isn't a crisis,

it's just a lot somedays.

Unravel Family Support is private, tailored coaching for families navigating a growth season with their children and who want closer, more personal guidance than a group program can offer.

This isn't counselling, or psychology, and it isn't for families looking for clinical support. It's private, practical guidance for parents and young people navigating the normal but genuinely demanding stages of life.

Whether that be for teens and tweens growing up: the hormones, the mood swings, the identity shifts, the push for independence, and everything else that comes with learning how to be an adult.

Or for families navigating the younger years of childhood and wanting to embed skills and strategies to support sibling connection, accessing learning or social interactions with more emotional regulation support.

Some families want this kind of support because things at home feel harder than they used to. Others want it because they can see this stage coming and would rather be ahead of it than behind. Either way, this gives your family practical tools, without needing a diagnosis, reaching breaking-point, or a reason to justify asking for help.

Who this is for

This is for families navigating recurring family tension, communication challenges, a child or teen who isn’t quite themselves lately, or is experiencing school stress or disengagement, confidence or identity struggles, friendship or social difficulties, or simply a season that feels harder than it should.

It's also a natural fit for families whose lives don't sit inside a conventional structure: families living, working or travelling internationally, families schooling their children outside the mainstream system, families juggling more than one country, timezone or education pathway, and busy parents who need support that works around real life, not around a fixed weekly slot.

Wherever your family is starting from, and however your child is being educated, the work is shaped around what's actually happening for you.

Hi, I'm Joanne

I'm a teacher, wellbeing coach and trauma-informed practitioner with over 15 years of experience working with families and schools around the world.

I created the Unravel Family Mentoring program for parents who can feel how much this stage matters, and want a clearer, wiser way to bring social and emotional learning back to where it belongs most: the family.

My work supports you to guide your child through big emotions, strengthen your relationship, communicate more effectively, and build resilience, confidence and emotional strength together, with academic and learning support woven in wherever it's needed.

These years shape identity, connection and the way a young person learns to move through life. You deserve guidance that's thoughtful, practical and real. That's exactly what the Family Intensive is built to give you.

The Unravel Circle was created for the space that sits between “everything is fine” and “my child needs professional intervention.”

What this looks like

Every Family Intensive begins with genuinely understanding your family: what's happening now, what's been tried, and what you actually want to be different.

From there, Joanne works closely with you to map what's driving the harder moments, build practical communication and conflict tools your family can use straight away, and create a plan for your child's wider wellbeing, confidence and, where it's relevant, their education and learning, so that support isn't split into separate, disconnected pieces.

Because families are rarely dealing with just one thing at a time, the work stays flexible. If what your family needs stretches into how your child is learning, how school or homeschool is structured, or how you're supporting them day to day, that can become part of the conversation too, not a separate service you have to go and find elsewhere.

Investment

From $900 per month, minimum of two months.

The Ways We Work Together

Every child opens up differently, so sessions draw on whatever actually reaches yours:

  • Conversation

  • Play and imagination

  • Art

  • Movement

  • Storytelling

  • Personalised learning

Sessions are held regularly, weekly or fortnightly depending on what your family needs.

Joanne is based in Torquay, Victoria, working in-home locally with travel available further afield, and online for families anywhere else. Between sessions, you're not left to figure it out alone.

What's Included

  • An initial family conversation to understand your needs

  • A clear picture of what's driving the patterns you're seeing

  • Practical communication and conflict tools, tailored to your family

  • Ongoing coaching for parents, including support for staying regulated yourselves

  • Strategy and guidance for your child or teen specifically

  • Support that flexes to include education and learning guidance where it's genuinely needed

  • Regular sessions across an 8–12 week period, with support between calls

  • A format built around your family's actual life, not a fixed template

The Process

Apply and book our first conversation

We start by understanding your family: what's happening, what's already been tried, and what you're hoping changes.

A plan built around you

From there, if it's a good fit for both of us, a clear plan is shaped around your specific family, not a generic program.

Ongoing sessions

Regular calls, in person or online depending on what suits your family, give you consistent support and a place to bring what's actually happening in real time.

Support between sessions You're not left to hold everything alone between calls.

A calmer, clearer way forward

By the end, families leave with stronger communication, calmer dynamics, and tools they can keep using long after the Intensive ends.

From Clients

Claire & Tia

Joanne has helped my daughter Tia so much. She has a way of encouraging her talk about things that have been sitting there for a while with a lightness that just works for our daughter. Joanne has helped us to support her through navigating recovering from injury and this impacting her mindset.

Erin & Pyper

We have worked with Joanne for many years and found that her way helps our children so much. We have tried working with psychologists and counsellors but we continue to come back to Joanne’s Unravel Method because it works. Her connection with the kids is something special.

Daniella & Mietta

Joanne has worked with Mietta for years in her primary school age and now in the Unravel Teen Program. They have a great relationship and connect through laughter and play. As we step into teen years, we feel confident that Mietta has Joanne as part of her community to help navigate the hard things.

Jade and Alvaro

I saw Joanne’s TEDx talk online and followed her and when we met in person I just knew we would work well together. She has guided us in our journey around exploring new ways of looking at educating our children and we wanted her to be part of our lives while the kids were young to support us as a family.

She is now like part of our family. Our kids adore her. Her knowledge & wisdom are next level but above all she is warm, loving and genuine. I recommend her to everyone I meet!

Renee

Joanne has worked with my family in many ways; all together, just with my children in a home school sense, with just my husband and I and also with my daughter and I and what is clear is that she listens so deeply and replies with love and truth and this is really refreshing.

She will call us out on things in a loving way and that has helped us more than you can know. We can’t recommend her enough.

Kristen & Dan

We were referred to Joanne by friends and she has proven to be everything we were looking for and more for our sons.

She not only supports us with homeschooling in an academic sense, she connects with our boys and gets to the core of what's holding confidence back, especially in writing.

She is warm, welcoming and genuine and we can’t recommend her enough.

Participant

Joanne is very easy to talk to! She hads such big heart.

Participant

Joanne helps me whenever I have friendship problems. I know I can go to her.

Participant

Joanne is very kind and she helps us in ways that other people can't.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Unravel Circle membership?

Unravel Circle is ongoing group support. The Family Intensive is private, one-to-one and built entirely around your family's specific situation.

Do you only work with families in a traditional school setting?

No. The Intensive is designed to work for any family structure, including families who are travelling, living abroad, or educating their children outside a mainstream classroom.

Can sessions happen online?

Yes. Sessions are held in whatever format genuinely works for your family, in person where possible, online where that fits your life better.

How often can we access Joanne?

This will depend on the plan we co create together. There is a cap on in person sessions to accommodate timing.location etc. but this can be discussed in a case by case scenario.

When you say support between sessions, what does that look like?

This can be via email, voice notes or text again depending on what it is specifically that is needed. There will be specific times where Joanne will be able to reply and also not based on working hours.

Does this include help with my child's education, not just their wellbeing?

Where it's relevant to your family, yes. The work is built around your whole situation, so if learning and education are part of what's going on, that's part of the conversation rather than something separate.

Where are sessions held?

Joanne is based in Torquay, Victoria, and works in-home with local families, with travel available further afield, as well as online for families anywhere else.
